This piece is inspired by the song, Luka, by Suzanne Vega. It is a tribute to the adolescents I taught while I was an art teacher in an inner city school in Toronto.

Their spirit soars despite the extreme challenges they face. Each piece was sculpted originally in clay, and then molded in plaster. The mittens were hand formed on the blow pipe.
